Rolf Method of Structural IntegrationMost people would like to be flexible, fluid, energetic, balanced and well-aligned. Yet this is certainly not the case with most adult bodies. Stress, accidents, poor postural habits, and emotional trauma eventually take their toll on our natural balance and symmetry. Our soft issue shortens, rotates, and stiffens into patterns of compensation in response to these insults. Over time, we experience these patterns as pain, loss of mobility and range of movement, less energy, depression, and/or misalignment. Structural Integration is a unique form of body-work that can dramatically reverse this disorganizing process by releasing strain and compensation in the connective tissue and muscles. It frees life-long stresses so that the continual pull of gravity can work with and for the body instead of against it. This new balance and efficiency of energy is often experienced as increased aliveness and vitality. Movement becomes easier and more economical. Structurally-integrated clients often report positive feedback from friends and business associates, as well as a personal sense of well being. Ann resculptures and integrates her client's bodies by using manual pressure, (see images) movement, and body awareness education. This transformative process takes place during ten sessions. Each session is different and builds upon the effects of the previous one. The overall result is cumulative and synergetic. Each session lasts from 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours in length. Clients often return later on for a "tune-up" session or for the "advanced format" of 3-5 sessions. Benefits
